What is ‘Traceroute’ command

Traceroute is a network tool used to display the route and transmit delay of packets in a network. It displays the round trip time of the packets received from each host in the path, the sum of the mean time for each hop is a measure of total time taken to establish a connection. It is a command-line tool included with and other operating systems. This procedure allows you to identify the data transmission from your computer to another.

Example:

1. To run traceroute:

# traceroute server-name

2. To view the manual page for traceroute command:

# man traceroute
